A year after his retirement Roger Federer is still attracting a crowd and staying in the limelight. He was seen attending the finals between Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz during the Shanghai Masters in China.

The 20-time Grand Slam Champion was invited to the Shanghai Masters to be honored with the first-ever ‘Icon Athlete’ award. After that, Roger Federer stayed back to witness the finals between the Russian and the Polish and got a very loud cheer from the crowd in Shanghai for his presence.

The stadium filled up during the event in which Roger Federer was being honored with the ‘Icon Athlete’ award. An entire event was made out of it where the Swiss legend was hitting signed balls high into the crowd and was also seen interacting with his fans. It was a memorable experience for both, Roger and his fans.

The crowd could not contain their excitement as they noticed Roger Federer in the finals between Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz. They gave a loud cheer for their idol who waved in acknowledgement of the crowd. Roger Federer retired from the sport last year in London following the completion of the Laver Cup. This year, he attended the Laver Cup in Canada and also witnessed a few matches during this year’s Wimbledon, before arriving in Shanghai.

Roger Federer was compared to James Bond during the Shanghai Masters finals

The 8-time Wimbledon Champion was witnessing the Shanghai Masters finals between Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz. He wore a rather stylish outfit with sunglasses as well. His overall attire was quite similar to the popular fictional character of James Bond.

Roger Federer was back in Shanghai to attend a ceremony where he was honored with a prestigious ‘Icon Athlete’ award. The Swiss tennis player has won the Shanghai Masters twice, in 2014 and in 2017. The 2017 win was a memorable one for the Swiss as he defeated his arch-rival, Rafael Nadal in a challenging match to win his second Shanghai Masters title.
