As the Swiss legend graced the court, the crowd erupted in a thunderous cheer to celebrate the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

Federer has consistently been acclaimed as one of the greatest tennis players, attributed to his outstanding performances across various tournaments throughout his illustrious career. The Shanghai Masters has held a special place in his heart, with Federer securing victory in three of these prestigious tournaments. The ceremony followed the quarterfinal match between Grigor Dimitrov and Nicolas Jarry, which saw the Bulgarian, Dimitrov, triumph over Jarry in two consecutive sets to secure a spot in the semi-finals. The stadium was already packed with eager fans, ready to witness Roger Federer’s return to the blue courts of Shanghai for the first time since his retirement. Indeed, one of Federer’s most intense matches took place during the 2006 Shanghai Open when he faced the then-prime Rafael Nadal. In this memorable contest, the Swiss maestro delivered a barrage of aces and managed to overcome the challenge posed by Nadal, ultimately securing victory with a final score of 6-4 and 7-5.

Federer’s journey in Shanghai had its highs and lows. In 2007, he faced a major upset, losing to the 7th-seeded Fernando Gonzalez during the group stage.
