On Running, the Swiss sneaker company has unveiled the newest iteration of the iconic shoe, THE ROGER, designed to deliver optimal performance on clay courts. The brainchild of tennis legend Roger Federer, who became a shareholder of On in November 2019, THE ROGER sneaker debuted in July 2020 and has since gained significant traction.
Over time, the company has launched various versions of THE ROGER, such as the tournament-ready THE ROGER Pro, marking On’s inaugural tennis shoe release. In 2018, Federer signed a ten-year deal with Japanese apparel company Uniqlo, ending his association with Nike. In the same year, Federer also became an investor in Swiss sneaker company On Running, and he played a significant role in designing and developing his own signature shoe line, THE ROGER.
The partnership between Federer and On Running has proven to be successful, with THE ROGER shoes gaining immense popularity among tennis fans and athletes alike. On the weekend, the latest edition of the sneaker, named THE ROGER Pro Clay, was released. On Running took to his Instagram, to unveil its new edition in a video that featured Roger Federer.
The caption for the post said, “Conquer the clay. Introducing THE ROGER Pro Clay: @rogerfederer’s iconic tennis shoe, optimized for clay courts.” According to the description on On’s official website, THE ROGER Pro Clay features a full-length herringbone outsole that is specially designed to channel clay through its grooves, thereby improving players’ ability to slide on the court.

Daniil Medvedev takes inspiration from Roger Federer
Daniil Medvedev has attributed his current focused attitude on the court to a valuable lesson he learned from Roger Federer. Despite having a humorous side earlier in his career, the 27-year-old Medvedev has adopted a more serious attitude over the past few years. This gave him a Grand Slam title and the world No. 1 ranking. In contrast, Federer, a former 20-time Grand Slam champion, was known for his calm and laid-back personality off the court.
However, when competing, Federer maintained a serious facial expression and seldom displayed emotions. Speaking to the Eurosport, Medvedev said, “I learned it a little bit from Roger (Federer) in a way, because he’s so chill in the locker room, so funny, smiling, and then you play a match against him, you hit kind of a great shot, and it’s Roger, you saw him on TV, he’s your idol, and you kind of try to smile at him or something, and you see, it seems like he’s angry at you.”
Ever since his retirement from professional tennis last year in Laver Cup, Roger Federer has been actively participating in many events and shows across the globe. Although fans miss him on the court, he is still seen regularly which keeps him more active on social media.
