Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are the two absolute favorites to win the 2023 US Open. They are the first and second seeds in the tournament, respectively, and have consistently been the two top players in the world for quite a while now. Tennis fans across the world are divided in opinion when talking about the potential winner of the last Grand Slam of the season. However, tennis legend Roger Federer is pretty clear about it and has already given his prediction in a recent interview.
Roger Federer picked Novak Djokovic over Carlos Alcaraz, despite the Spaniard beating the Serb in the Wimbledon. “I would bet on Novak Djokovic. That’s a safe bet,” said the Swiss international upon being asked to rationalize his pick. However, this is all he had to say about the potential final between the two players and his stand is pretty reasonable.
Although Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in the final of the Wimbledon Open, the Serb made a wonderful comeback in the Cincinnati Open when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final in an intense battle. Their Cincinnati Open final clash was one for the ages and has been termed one of the best matches in a long while.
Yet, it can not be truly called revenge, as that would only happen if Novak Djokovic is able to defeat Carlos Alcaraz in a Grand Slam, i.e., the US Open. Being the Top 2 seeds, Alcaraz and Djokovic can only face each other in the final of the US Open and everything seems to be leading to that.
Novak Djokovic breaks Roger Federer’s incredible record after his victory over Taylor Fritz

The World No. 2 defeated Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals of the US Open pretty dominantly and with it, made it into his 47th Grand Slam semifinal, the highest by any individual. Previously, he shared the record with Roger Federer with 46 Grand Slam semifinals played and now the Serbian sits at the very top of the list. Rafael Nadal is No. 3 on the list with 38 Grand Slam semifinals.
It was also Novak’s 250th win against a Top 10 player in the World (in rankings), which in itself is a remarkable feat. He will now be facing American youngster Ben Shelton in the semifinals.
