Roger Federer will receive a special tribute by Uniqlo in Tokyo as the Swiss maestro set to make his first public appearance post-retirement

Roger Federer, the former tennis player from Switzerland drew curtains on his 24 years long career at the 2022 Laver Cup as he played his final doubles match with his longtime rival and friend Rafael Nadal but ended up on the losing side. He retired with 103 ATP titles, the second most in the history of tennis.
The Swiss maestro will make his first public appearance at Uniqlo’s LifeWear Day event in Tokyo on November 19 at the Ariake Coliseum. Federer, the brand ambassador of Uniqlo since 2018, will join wheelchair tennis player Shingo Kunieda of Japan for a Global Brand Ambassador Talk Session followed by a match between the two.
Uniqlo officials released a statement confirming his appearance where they stated that “UNIQLO LifeWear Day Tokyo 2022 with Roger Federer, an event to connect the next generation, will be held at the Ariake Coliseum to celebrate the achievements of UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassador Roger Federer, who retired from professional tennis in September this year.“

Uniqlo further spoke about hosting a special ceremony in Tokyo to pay respect to the 20-time Grand Slam singles champion and give his fans a chance to relieve the journey and achievements of the Swiss legend. They further added that “We have prepared content that visitors can enjoy, such as sales of UNIQLO and Federer, and a corner that looks back on the activities of UNIQLO and Federer.“
Uniqlo further stated the motive for hosting the tournament where they aim to promote initiatives to nurture the next generation. They said, “Through UNIQLO LifeWear Day Tokyo 2022 with Roger Federer, UNIQLO will promote initiatives to nurture the next generation that will contribute to the sustainable development of society, nurture the dreams of children who will lead the future, and realize a better society.“
Federer hasn’t made any appearance since his retirement and had even declined to appear at the Swiss Indoors for another farewell ceremony as he stated about not being ready for another emotional ride experience and going through the same emotions within such a short span of time since his farewell night at the Laver Cup which was very much emotional with everyone breaking down into tears, especially with Rafael Nadal crying inconsolably during the final goodbye.
