The return of Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has wreaked havoc in the tennis community. With his fans and followers eagerly waiting to see the GOAT return to the court, pundits and tennis analysts are giving their views on the much-awaited occasion.
This time Roger Federer‘s former coach, Ivan Ljubicic, has talked about the 22-time Grand Slam winner, who is also under the influence of one of the most prominent rising stars of the sport, Arthur Fils.
Ljubicic, who is currently the director of the “Ambition 2024” mission issued by the French Tennis Federation, talked about his recent conversation with Fils over text messages.
Ljubicic shared the fact that he was informed through SMS by the Frenchman about Nadal’s recent training sessions and how desperate the Spaniard is to get back to the tennis court.
Arthur Fils was seen getting alongside Nadal quite a few times as the duo underwent intense and rigorous training at Nadal’s academy in Kuwait.
Arthur Fils wrote to me and told me that Rafa was playing at a very high level. I always expect big things from him.In a report through Gazzetta dello Sport, Ljubicic said via We Love Tennis
Rafael Nadal proved too much for the young Arthur Fils:
With Brisbane International approaching, the hearts of all Nadal supporters are starting to beat faster. The wait to see the Spaniard yet again on the court will soon be over.
On the other hand, Nadal has been practicing to his absolute limits at his academy in Kuwait. Videos emerged on Twitter where he was seen exchanging shots with Next Gen ATP Finals runners-up Arthur Fils.
With Fils at the peak of his form and Nadal coming back from a year-long gap, the Frenchman was still no match for the strikeforce of the Spaniard. Having lost a couple of points during the practice match, Fils couldn’t control his frustrations as he ended up smashing his racquet on the floor.
It was evident from the clips on the Internet that Fils was not at all comfortable playing Nadal, who will take to the court on December 31 after almost a year-long pause.
