Having not found success as a doubles pro, Bopanna tried multiple partners and failed each time. After not winning a row of matches, he revealed to be mentally tired but felt immediately better when he expressed his feelings to his coach. Urging everyone to do the same, the Indian revealed his change of feeling after expressing his thoughts to the coach and moved only forward since then.
Bopanna said to the AO Press:
I think just expressing that, you know, relaxed me. I had not won a match for the first four months of my journey. That's when I told my wife, I told Scott as well, my coach, that, you know, I don't think I can go any further. I'm not winning matches. I've been playing 20 years of tennis.
