Roland Garros to protect players from Online bullying using Artificial Intelligence, players laud the initiative

Roland Garros will start its main draw on Sunday, May 28, 2023. The organizers of the tournament have decided to provide an artificial intelligence moderator to players for their social media handles. This great initiative is introduced to protect competitors against online hate and bullying.
The French Tennis Federation( FTF) declared on Monday that the AI technology developed by Bodyguard.AI will be working to eliminate all sorts of hateful, bullying, or racist comments from the player’s social media accounts. This software will be provided for free and will make sure that competitors are protected against any kind of online harassment. Moderation will be made in real-time while also taking care of the censored content.
Various social media platforms that will be monitored are Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Discord.

On the other hand, the tournament director, Amelie Mauresmo, also stated that she can’t wait to witness the actions of the players. “It’s great for the mental well-being of the players. It clears the mind and will help everyone have a little more freedom on the court. I can’t wait to see how the players react to it,” Mauresmo said.
With a lot of ongoing support for the initiative, players like Bianca Andreescu and Alize Cornet have applauded the decision of the Paris organizers. Christopher Clarey, the renowned tennis writer for The New York Times, also took to Twitter to express his delight with the change brought by FTF.
The Roland Garros will mark the end of clay court tournaments of the year. It will be followed by the third major, Wimbledon Championships.
