Alexander Zverev made an incredible comeback to win the Chengdu Open in China. He defeated Roman Safiullin in three sets, 6-7(2), 7-6(5),6-3 to win the Championship. He won his second title of the season, the first being in Hamburg.

Roman, who displayed an unbelievable performance over the last couple of weeks, became emotional during the post-match ceremony after his loss to Alexander Zverev. He was almost in tears as he appreciated the combined efforts of his wife, family, and team. Roman stated, “Of course, I want to thank my team, my wife especially. We made a really long way from the futures to the final of the ATP and top 50 players.”

The Russian also expressed his wife’s contribution to his career. He further added, “I want to thank her first of all and thank you very much for your support and for your love, I love you so much.” Talking about his victory and Roman’s game over the past few weeks, Zverev stated that Roman has been playing the game of his life and has effortlessly been defeating players in the past few weeks.

Alexander Zverev is looking in incredible form as he wins his 3rd three-set match in the ATP 250 event. He is happy to win this title after losing in the semi-finals of the French Open this year. The German did not have much to celebrate after his comeback to the Tour after his injury last year at the Roland Garros against Rafael Nadal. This victory will surely lift his spirits as he goes forward to the remaining tournaments of the season.

Alexander Zverev wins his 2nd title of the season

Alexander Zverev lifted the silverware for the second time this season. He won his first one at Hamburg and now at Chengdu. He showed an impressive performance, defeating Roman Safiullin in a 3-set thriller after coming down from the loss of one set. He fought a hard battle to overcome the Russian after losing the first set to him. Roman was playing in his first finals of an ATP event.

This win boosts the German’s chances of qualifying for the upcoming Nitto ATP finals in Turin this year. He is placed at 7 in the Turin rankings and moves ahead of Holger Rune due to his recent performances. Alexander Zverev has made a fighting comeback in his career after his terrible injury at the French Open last year. He also came into the semi-finals of the clay court Grand Slam this year.
