Iga Swiatek is having a wonderful season. She started the WTA tour by making it to the semi-final round of the Adelaide International in preparation for her Australian Open campaign. She was fantastic at Melbourne Park making it to the semi-final round but lost to World No.27, Danielle Collins.

Following this, she won the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open, and Italian Open, in the build-up to the French Open. She then won the Women’s Singles title at Roland Garros. But she again saw a dip in her form but came back strongly, winning the US Open.

Next, she made it to the final of the Ostrava Open but lost to Barbora Krejcikova. She will be playing the first match in the San Diego Open.

Qinwen Zheng has given us a few surprises and moments to rejoice in this year. She started her 2022 WTA tour by qualifying in the first grand slam event. In the second round, she lost out to Maria Sakkari. In the French Open, she defeated Simona Halep but lost to the Polish star Iga Swiatek.

At Wimbledon, she lost to Elena Rybakina in the third round. Later, she made it to the quarter-final of the Canadian Open defeating Ons Jabeur and Bianca Andreescu on the way. She made it to the third round of the US Open but lost out to Jule Niemeier.

Next, she made it to the final of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Japan but was defeated by Liudmila Samsonova. She got a walkover after Muguruza retired due to illness.

Iga Swiatek is a hot favorite to win this one. Her current form also suggests that she would not have much trouble defeating the Chinese. However, Qinwen Zheng definitely would have got a few surprises in her sleeve with which she would like to shock the world No.1.

Just to remind you that both Swiatek and Zheng have played against each other this year in the fourth round of Roland Garros. In that match, the Chinese gave the Polish a run for her money.

It will be interesting to see what the world No.28 has learned in the past six months through many ups and downs this season. It will be a lip-smacking fixture.
