Oil-rich country Saudi Arabia continues their stronghold in the world of sports. After major contributions in Football, NBA, and golf, the rich country has turned its head towards tennis.

The latest Saudi venture into tennis is their plan of a 6 Kings Slam featuring the top players of the sport. Hosted in Riyadh, the Gulf nation welcomes the top players with immense prize money.

They got the crowd interested with their star-studded lineup featuring Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal and will get many players also involved due to their prize money. It is a multi-million dollar exhibition event, where the prize money for the winner is believed to be around 6 million dollars. Other than this, they also offer a participation fee of 1.5 million dollars.

As one of the richest countries, they look to reshape the sport with their prize money. Considering Wimbledon’s prize money of 2.35 million pounds for the champion, this tournament offers close to that just for participating. With not many spots on the calendar, the Saudi team looks for empty spots where they can fit this tournament. No dates have been released yet, but the list of players competing gets the fans excited.

Saudi Arabia found a loophole as they get players to participate without the risk of them losing their status in the ATP

Recently ATP has been strict with players participating in unofficial events lasting more than three days, stripping them of their Platinum status if they do so.

However, the Saudi committee was well-advanced with their tournament planning and figured out a rule to avoid getting the players penalized by the ATP. They are organizing a two-day on and one day off routine that fits well inside the ATP rules, and the nation gets their entertainment.

They have also got Rafael Nadal as their brand ambassador to increase their scope of view. With Nadal’s fan base, many people know about Saudi and their intentions. Even though the ATP has collaborated with Saudi Arabia, the WTA poses more resistance to the Gulf nations.

Even though there are exhibition events for the women, only a few make it to the oil-rich country while others stand by their word. Targeting getting a tournament in their country Saudi Arabia has made strides in the sport.
