In a recent incident and controversy, fans witnessed a heated interaction between two doubles partners in a match during the China Open. After the incident, Alycia Parks found herself at the center of a confrontation with Yanina and her coach Gerald Moretti. The coach of the Belgian player recently opened up to lovetennis.com about the insights of the incident and who is actually at fault.
The duo of Yanina and Parks were playing against Kristina Mladenovic and Caroline Garcia in the round of 32 match when the heated argument took place leading to their early exit from the tournament. The duo were leading in the first set but when they argued during the second set, everything seemed to go downhill for them as they eventually lost the game. The controversy revolves around the video where Yanina and Parks were seen arguing and the Belgian was shaking her head as the American was speaking.
Later on in their game, both seemed to be in an argument which was the highlight of their game. “She had already made remarks to Yanina, telling her: ‘You don’t know how to serve.’ Yanina had kept her calm. But when the Belgian made a mistake, she added a layer and it was the last straw. Yanina therefore stopped taking charge, hence the look during the change of sides.” said Gerald to welovetennis.com.
Alycia Parks loses early in the China Open in both leagues
American Youngster Alycia Parks has exited early from the China Open as she had a forgetful tournament in both singles as well as doubles tournament. The youngster lost to Liudmila Samsonova in the early stages of the tournament and moved only a stage forward in the doubles leg but also lost that pretty cheaply to have a forgetful tournament.

Other than the bad run, Alycia has been amidst many raging controversies of her constantly having problems with her doubles partner. In 2023, the American has not played a consecutive tournament with the same partner except Yanina with whom she had a conflict. Their coach of Yanina also revealed that “ Alycia has already had problems with several doubles partners, people from the WTA staff, and even sparring partners who have complained about her behavior which is scandalous.” As the tennis world watches with anticipation, only time will tell how the American will respond to the allegations and also improve her game in the future.
