Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev

The Serbia Open 2022 is an ATP tournament that started its first tournament in 2009. In 2021, it later returned and was conducted in the month of April and Italian player Matteo Berreteni was declared the winner, with Aslan Karatsev, as the runner-up. However, this year a player is causing a buzz in the stadium with his return.

It is none other than Novak Djokovic who has reached the finals of the event. The Serbian who is the home crowd favorite had been having a dismal year so far and a win in this tournament could bring back his form and give him a fighting chance in the French Open.

The Serbian is set to play Russian Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals on 24th April 2022. The tournament is held on an outdoor clay court and players will all be geared and fired up for the clay season.

The year was a bad start for the Serbian, who only played two matches in the year, The first one was the Dubai tennis championships, where he lost in the quarter-finals to Jiri Vesely. He then competes in the Monte Carlo Masters, in which he lost in the round of 32 matches to the eventual runner-up and Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Now that he is in his hometown, the Serbian has quite a lot of fans who will only be praying that he wins the tournament and get ready for the upcoming tournaments, one of the most important being the French Open.

Andrey Rublev on the other hand, at the start of the season, proved to be fruitful, when he won the Dubai Tennis Championships. The Miami Open did not bode well for the Russian, as he lost to Australian Nick Kyrgios and the Monte Carlo masters were also not very exceptional, as he lost in the round of 16 to Janick Sinner. This is his first final since the Dubai Open Championships.

Will it be the hometown crowd favorite Novak Djokovic or the Russian Andrey Rublev who will prove to be the one to win the tournament? Let us know.
