Serena Williams’s former coach makes an outrageous claim that she can win Grand Slam and reclaim her number 1 ranking

Serena Williams
Serena Williams is one of the most fierce competitors in sports. She has won a record 23 singles Grand Slam titles, in the Open Era and is regarded among the greatest of all times to play tennis. She has broken numerous records and has one of the most illustrious career records ever. Serena has not played on the tour since her withdrawal in the first round of Wimbledon 2021 and there were even rumors about her announcing retirement soon.
Considering Serena’s return to the WTA tour, age has become a factor huge factor. Aged 40 and in the twilight of her sporting career, it seems highly unlikely that Serena will continue for long on the tour. Even if she decides to give herself the last run, it seems far-fetched that she would be able to remain competitive with the young and powerful players who are in their prime. However, Serena’s former coach Rick Macci, who nurtured the Williams sisters has disagreed. He feels there’s still a lot of fight left in Serena.
A gigantic comeback seems unlikely for Serena Williams.

Rick Macci, the former coach and mentor of Serena Williams believes that she can still make a very strong comeback and charm the tennis world once again. He said: “If she wants to do it, she has to fully commit and get in amazing shape. You don’t lose the talent, you just lose the fitness. Then you get the confidence back once you start playing matches. She just has to dive in get used to winning and losing. She’s probably the best competitor maybe in any women’s sport we’ve ever seen.”
Macci said that she is a brutal competitor, he elaborated: “Serena is like a pitbull when she gets a hold of you she doesn’t let go. She’s a brutal competitor and she has that serve. She can hit fifteen aces a match still. If she wants to do this and really go after it, I have no doubt that she can do it because you never underestimate a heart of a champion,”
He continued: “This young lady was wired different at ten years old when i saw her. Just the way she’s put together. I know she has other priorities in her life, she’s a mother now. But if she wants to do this, one hundred percent, she can come back. And I think she could not only win Grand Slam, she could be number one if she wanted to but that’s a question only she can answer.”
