Rennea Stubbs wishes former and current US Open Champions, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff (respectively) to play against each other till the next decade. Both, Gauff and Swiatek are currently one of the strongest players on the WTA Tour.

Swiatek who is World No. 2 and Gauff who is World No. 3, have played against each other nine times. Swiatek has won 8 matches out of these, the most recent being the semi-finals of the China Open. The win brought Swiatek much-needed confidence, who lost the last time she met the American teen. The win also ended Gauff’s 16-match winning streak.

Iga Swiatek edges close to a hard-court victory

Swiatek had a pretty decent season this year. She managed to win four titles: the Qatar Open, the Stuttgart Open, and the Poland Open along with the fourth one being the Grand Slam (Roland Garros).

Moreover, she reached the finals of Madrid and Dubai. The 22-year-old came to Beijing following an impressive quarterfinal performance at the Tokyo Open. She drastically improved her form this week, outperforming opponents like Varvara Gracheva, Magda Linette, and Caroline Garcia.

Swiatek has the advantage over Samsonova based on the head-to-head score. Her powerful groundstrokes may be fatal for her opponent, and she can control the match from the baseline. Unless Samsonova adjusts her strategies and approaches in a more aggressive manner, Swiatek may win this match. If she maintains her current form, the top seed might win her fifth title of the season.
