Simona Halep, the former world number one faced a major setback in her career when her blood samples at the US Open found very small traces of a banned substance. She has been temporarily suspended from her services since the investigation completes and the final results are given.
She even released a statement claiming her innocence and requesting support from her fans during the tough times. She even claimed that she hasn’t done it intentionally and she was completely unaware of consuming the substance by any chance. She also claimed to fight until the final truth is out and hopes to get justice before the next year begins.
Many people extended their support to the 2-time Grand Slam winner and expressed their concerns. But Alexis Ohanian, the multibillionaire co-founder of Reddit company and the husband of Serena Williams, took a sarcastic dig at the Romanian player against the doping allegations. He shared a throwback picture from the match between Serena Williams against Maria Sharapova at the US Open in the year 2019.
He shared a social media post with the caption “What are you all wearing for Halloween this year??“. Ohanian was spotted wearing a black t-shirt inside a jacket with D.A.R.E(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) written on it. At that time, the Russian player had returned after facing a ban due to doping and it didn’t go down well with people, especially after Halep’s controversy is in the headlines.

The World No 9 had faced an early exit at the US Open losing in the first round. She later underwent nose surgery that ended her season prematurely. With the probable ban, it has somehow put her on the back foot and quite a delay on her comeback.
Many tennis personalities extended their support and concern for the 2018 French Open champion amid the difficult times. But Ohanian’s sardonic stance on Halep didn’t go down well with the people on social media. Some even slammed him for commenting on women’s tennis while some even called him out not to stoop to such low levels as the matter hasn’t been resolved completely.
