Service is one of the most fundamental skills to learn in tennis. While it is the hardest to learn, every player spends years perfecting their service and giving themselves an advantage for the point. Throughout the generations of tennis, there have been many players known for their deadly serves and former tennis great Rick Macci was named the greatest server on the WTA tour.

The American coach was previously asked who he reckons is the best server in the WTA tour and the 69-year-old had a crystal clear answer in his mind. He hailed the American G.O.A.T Serena Williams as the best server on the WTA tour for her milestone record of having 24 Aces in one single game. Rick Macci on X:

Was asked who had the best serve Ever on the WTA TOUR. Many good servers but the best of the best is the one who in a had 24 ACES IN ONE MATCH. The key is unreal placement and the ones that Never come Back! And if they did Dinner is served for the Goat to Attack.

The former player also revealed the key to a perfect serve which was placing the serve where the opponent could reach it and even if they did, it would just be an easy winner for Williams which he articulated as“ Dinner is served for the Goat to Attack.”

Serena Williams’s 24 Aces in a single game saw her win her 14th Grand Slam trophy

Serena Williams’ unbeaten 24 aces in a game record was achieved during her match against Victoria Azarenka in the 2012 Wimbledon. After leading a set, the American had to stand her ground and withstand the comeback posed by her opponent and eventually won the game in straight sets 6-3,7-6(6).

Her 24 aces came of extreme use during this game giving her the edge against her opponent which eventually saw her across the line and to the finals where she won her 14th Grand Slam trophy.

However, this was not the first time the world witnessed the great rain aces. Williams had previously hit 20 aces against Samantha Stosur in the Sony Ericsson Open, where the 23-time Grand Slam champion avenged her loss and eventually went on to be known as one of the best servers in the game. In recent times, while many have had immense pace in their serve, not many have even come close to matching the great feats of Serena Williams. Players still struggle to find their momentum while serving which usually results in them losing and hence spending a good time focusing on their serves.
