Serena Williams or Venus Williams? Which sister is more richer?

Serena and Venus Williams

Serena Williams said goodbye to her professional tennis career this year at the US Open. She announced in August that she’ll be retiring from tennis after the conclusion of her home tournament. She defeated World No. 2 Anett Kontaveit in the second round but played her last match against Australia’s Ajla Tomjlanovic who defeated her in the third round.

As for her sister Venus Williams, she was out of the tournament in the first round where she lost to Alison Van Uytvanck. Both the sisters will still be in action at the doubles tournament although they lost in the first round of the US Open. After her third-round loss, Serena tearfully said, “I thank everyone here, who have been on my side for so many years. So many years. Decades. Literally decades. But it all started with my parents and they deserve everything. So I am very grateful to them. I wouldn’t be Serena if there were no Venus. So, thank you, Venus.”

While both sisters have had flourishing careers with multiple grand slams to their name one can’t help but wonder how much each of them has earned throughout their long-lasting careers. Serena Williams’ net worth is estimated to be $260 million as of 2022 according to Forbes. Meanwhile, Venus Williams earned less than her sister, with her net worth is amounting to $95 million.

Serena Williams made the Forbes list of American Self-made Women this year. She has said, “The only way that people can get funding is if people like me, women and people of colour, are actually writing the checks. Otherwise, it’s going to be the same boys’ club, except not for a lot of Black people.”

According to the WTA, Serena Williams has won $94.5 million in prize money throughout her career; more than any player in female tennis history. Venus Williams herself is an advocate for equal pay in tennis.
