Serena Williams, along with her husband Alexis Ohanian, welcomed her second daughter on Tuesday. The couple informed the world about their newborn child through a series of social media posts. The 41-year-old tennis star, who has a record 23 Grand Slam titles to her name, had revealed that she was expecting a second baby earlier in May at the Met Gala in New York.
The couple had their first daughter, Olympia, way back in 2017. They tied the knot two months later in November at a ceremony in New Orleans. The tennis megastar, who is wildly popular and is regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, won the Australian Open in 2017 when she was pregnant.
Serena’s husband Alexis revealed the happy news in a post on social media platform X (previously Twitter) that sent fans into a frenzy. “Welcome, Adira River Ohanian,” he stated, revealing the name of their second daughter. He further went on to add, “I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful.@serenawilliams you’ve now given me another incomparable gift — you’re the GMOAT.”
He thanked the medical staff and claimed that he’ll “never forget the moment” he introduced their first daughter “to her baby sister”. He ended the post with a beautiful quote, “Your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.”

Earlier last year, Serena revealed her plan to “evolve away” from the sport, also stating, “I’ve been reluctant to admit that I have to move on from playing tennis. It’s like a taboo topic. It comes up, and I start to cry. I think the only person I’ve really gone there with is my therapist. ”
She also expressed her distaste for the word ‘retirement’, claiming that it didn’t feel like a modern word to her and revealed her plan to “evolve away” from the sport. “It is the hardest thing that I could ever imagine,” she stated.
