Seeded at No.7, Taylor Fritz beat Japan’s Yosuke Watanuki in his Round of 64 match on Saturday. In a thrilling three-setter, the two players had a close fight for the ticket to the third-round of the ATP event. The 25-year-old, however, came on top of his opponent with his 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 win in his opening match. Fritz has had a pretty impressive season. He made it to the quarter-final round at the Flushing Meadows where he eventually lost to US Open champ, Novak Djokovic in three straight sets.

On the other hand, Diego Schwartzman ousted 27th seed Czech tennis player, Jiri Lehecka over three sets in his latest match. The Argentinian emerged victorious, scoring 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 over three sets. The 31-year-old last played at the China Open event where he lost his Round of 32 match to the hands of Germany’s Alexander Zverev.
