Greek tennis star, Stefanos Tsitsipas will be up against Ugo Humbert who is seeded at 32 in his third-round match at the Shanghai Masters event in China tomorrow. Both Humbert as well as Tsitsipas received a performance bye in their first-round owning to their participation at the recently concluded China Open.

Fourth seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Australian tennis player, Rinky Hijikata in his Round of 64 match on Saturday. The Greek demolished his opponent in straight sets to claim a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the match. Tsitsipas however, has not had an impressive run ever since his title clinch at the Los Cabos Open.

Ugo Humbert, at the same time, beat Botic van de Zandschulp on Saturday to make it to the Round of 32. He claimed the ticket to the third round with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. He also had a great run at the China Open. The player reached the quarter-finals but lost the match to World No.3, Daniil Medvedev over three sets.

World No.6, Stefanos Tsitsipas will be up again French tennis professional, Ugo Humbert for the first time this year. The duo’s head-2-head stands at 1-1, with both players having won one encounter each. Their two previous clashes were at the Canadian Open back in 2021, where the Greek won in a three-setter. However, at the Masters in Paris, back in 2020, the Frenchman beat Tsitsipas.

Humbert had a pretty good run at the China Open where he made it to the Final 8 at the event. The Frenchman however, has some powerful smashes up his sleeve. If Ugo Humbert can reduce the number of unforced errors and catch up with his opponent’s speed at the game, while keeping up with the powerful shots, he might actually be able to beat Tsitsipas.

Although Tsitsipas is not in his best form, the Greek played well against the Australian tennis player, Rinky Hijikata in his second-round match. Despite his early exits from the previous few tournaments, Tsitsipas can beat the 32nd seed if he can dial right back in the game as soon as he sets foot on the court. If he does not lose his focus at the upcoming Round of 32 match tomorrow, Tsitsipas can easily make it past the this round.
