Alize Cornet has had a great Grand Slam performance in 2022, making it into the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2022 and a third-round appearance at the French Open 2022. She has also made it to the third round of Wimbledon and will face the world number 1, Iga Swiatek who is currently on a 37-match winning streak and fresh off from the French Open 2022 victory. Cornet is hoping to be the one who can break Swiatek’s stupendous streak.

Although Swiatek has won her first two rounds at Wimbledon 2022, she looked a bit vulnerable against the lucky loser Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove who was up a break on Swiatek in the first set, and she managed to win the second set. But Swiatek dug deep and fended off the vicious attack. But the main culprit was Swiatek’s forehand which she would like to improve if she wants to continue her winning streak. Cornet will look to make the most of her opportunity, but she has also praised the Pole’s game.

Cornet complemented Swiatek’s impressive movement on the court and compared it to Novak Djokovic‘s. She said: “I don’t know “her ball” yet, I am yet to discover it, but I think she is very strong. It emphasizes the intensity of the game and the physical is crazy. In terms of the way she moves and glides on the court, she reminds me a bit of Novak Djokovic.”

But as most people believe that Swiatek is the most vulnerable on grass courts, Cornet has laid out her strategies against Swiatek clearly. She said: “She hits the ball very early with great power, but this is not the classic flat “boom, boom”. She can do anything,” “She serves very well with the first service, but maybe there is something to catch up in the second.”

Cornet also praised Swiatek’s demeanor. She said: “She’s so cute, so natural, says what she thinks, and doesn’t look up at her. Modest, without arrogance. I have the impression that he has a lot of very good qualities.”
