Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan won her first ever singles Grand Slam at the Wimbledon Championship 2022 on Saturday, 9th of July 2022 defeating Ons Jabeur of Tunisia in an exciting and thrilling match in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in 1 hour and 48 minutes. She lost the first set to Jabeur but bounced back brilliantly in the next two sets and won the match.
Rybakina became the youngest woman to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish since Petra Kvitova in the year 2011. She had defeated Simona Halep of Belarus in the semifinal match to reach her first ever major final.
