“She wouldn’t do such a thing,” Simona Halep’s ex-husband extends his support towards the former World No.1 as he dismisses all doping allegations levied on her

Simona Halep has been temporarily suspended from competing in any tennis tournament as it was found out that she was using an illegal substance called Roxadustat. She failed the doping test that was done before the US Open began. The news has just become public.
Toni Iuruc who was until September, the husband of Simona Halep has surprisingly come in support of his former wife. He gave a long interview with a Romanian news publication Fanatik. In this interview, he talked at length about the fairness, character, and integrity of the former world No.1.
“I’m shocked, I haven’t recovered for an hour, I’m shocked and shocked again! I can not believe that. I’ve known Simona for three years, of which at least two in the circuit, and I swear to you that this girl, my ex-wife, is obsessed with one thing: honor!” he said.
“You can take anything from Simona, if you took away her honor, her fairness, you kill her! He is no longer human! I don’t know what happened there with that test, but it’s probably a mistake. Simona would not have done such a thing even if you had cut off her hand to stop playing tennis,” he further added.
Toni Iuruc was adamant that Simona would not even dare to do or think about something as lowly as this. “Simona Halep would never cheat, her career is her shield and I know her best… You know very well that I just finished the divorce, I could have said «No comment». There is no way I would do such a thing, when I know this woman so well, when I have been with her for so many years. Simona was obsessed with not making mistakes,” he vouched for Halep.
Iuruc then gave an example describing Simona’s behavior. “I’ll tell you something for the first time: she never even drank water if the bottle was not sealed. She unsealed it with her hand, she was always careful. I’ll tell you something else. Do not take even one Vitamin C without asking your doctor. She is sick of fairness,” he recalled.
Simona Halep is going through a tough phase in her life
Simona Halep married Toni Iuruc only last year. Before that, they knew each other very well. When the US Open ended with the sudden exit of former World No.1, another piece of news shook the tennis world as Halep was going to divorce her husband Iuruc.
Toni Iuruc though is confident that his former wife will come back strongly from this episode and truth will come out soon. “There is a mistake somewhere… Something happened, I don’t want to think about anything else. It doesn’t matter that we broke up, the truth is one: Simona is a woman raised with morals and a duty to the truth, principles that she would never abandon, for anything in the world,” he said with confidence.
After filing for divorce, she underwent nasal surgery and is now recovering from it. She was planning to make her comeback to the tennis circuit next season but this ban may deter her.
The 2018 French Open champion would require all the support in the world as she is looking to fight against all charges that have until now been leveled against her. It will be interesting to see what she does in the next few days and months as she looks to make a strong resurgence of form and redeem her respect.
