Serena Williams, the 40-year-old American professional is widely regarded as the greatest female tennis player of all time by millions around the world, with 23 Grand Slam titles to her name, there are very few players in history who can dare go to-to-toe with the American icon.
The American recently dropped a bombshell that stunned the tennis world, Serena Williams announced that after enjoying a glamourous career filled with titles, Williams will be retiring from tennis after playing at the final major tournament of the season which will also be the last tournament of her career, the US Open.

Rafael Nadal lauds Serena Williams’ exceptional career
During her exceptional career, Serena Williams has earned fans from all over the world and one of them is also someone who is considered as one of the greatest players of all time by millions around the world, Rafael Nadal. The 22-time Grand Slam winner was full of appreciation for Serena Williams’ career and lauded her longevity as well.
He said, “Plenty of memories, She is one of the greatest sports [people] of all time. I feel lucky to share a tour for a long period of time with her. Of course, from a selfish point of view it’s sad that she’s leaving the tour but, on the other hand, we can’t thank her enough for all the things that she did for our sport.”
I think she’s an amazing inspiration for a lot of people around the world and I think she deserves to choose whatever works for her better at this stage of her life. So I wish her all the best,” Nadal added further.
Rafael Nadal had to retire from this year’s Wimbledon, after beating Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals the Spaniard suffered an abdominal tear due to which he was unable to play in the semis. Nadal hasn’t been able to recover from his injury ever since, he named the Western and Southern Open as the competition he will be returning in, the Spaniard was also seen practicing in Cincinnati ahead of his comeback from injury.
