World No. 2 Ons Jabeur will be playing in her first-ever Grand Slam final at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships when she takes on World No. 23 Elena Rybakina as both women come looking for a major Grand Slam title. While Rybakina is a surprise element in the finals given her not-so-great build-up to the Championships, Ons was a favourite and has certainly played like a one.
With her semi-final win over Tatjana Maria, Ons became the first Tunisian to reach a Grand Slam final and added it to her long list of achievements which includes being the first Tunisian to reach and win a WTA title, make a Grand Slam quarter-final, enter the Top-50, make the Top-10 debut and become the World No. 2. Coming from Tunisia, where tennis infrastructure is not greatly developed, Ons has been one of the rare ones to breakthrough and is becoming a force on the Tour.

Ons has not only got the tennis fans and her compatriots gushing on her victory, but former World No. 1 and 7-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander is also one of the members of the Ons Jabeur Fanclub as the Swedish great discussed how Ons has been a phenomenon on the Tour.
“People are an inspiration when they pursue their passion, when they’re having a good time when they share their enthusiasm, and in that way inspire people. On top of that, when you have the guts that Ons Jabeur shows by saying she wants to win Wimbledon, by saying she wants to improve. Then actually doing it as well. She’s a role model and she’s ticking pretty much every box and whatever you are as a tennis player, tennis fan, you’re going to get inspired by Ons Jabeur,” said Wilander speaking on Eurosport.
