Eugenie Bouchard labels Maria Sharapova ‘annoying’ and a ‘d**k’

Recently, Canadian professional tennis player Eugenie Bouchard appeared on the Pardon My Take podcast. Pardon My Take is a podcast owned by Tony Khan. The general length of the podcast is about 90-120 minutes. The former World No. 5 shared some of her tennis experiences here, and surprisingly, one of the stories was related to the Russian tennis sensation, Maria Sharapova.

When the host asked, “Have you ever played a warm-up with anyone and they were just being a d*ck?” to which Bouchard replied “Oh yeah, Sharapova, She just tries to hit the ball as hard as she can in the warm-up. It’s so annoying. She’s trying to intimidate you but it didn’t work on me.”

The host then asked Eugenie Bouchard if she talked about this to the chair umpire to which her reply was “The umpire can’t force you to do anything, Ultimately the umpire can’t force the person to warm up. You could just walk on the court and decide not to warm up if you don’t want to but normally most of us just do some easy rallying to feel good and some try to do winners and try to hit as hard as they can.”

Eugenie Bouchard and Maria Sharapova last faced each other in 2017 at the Madrid Open round of 32. Bouchard won that match by 2 sets to 1. This was Bouchard’s first victory against Sharapova. They both faced each other 5 times out of which Sharapova won 4 matches. In the interview, Bouchard added “Unfortunately we can’t play anymore, I mean, she’s a great competitor and we had battles for sure but uh no we can’t play anymore. She’s retired.”

Bouchard is going to return to tennis in her first exhibition set the US Pro Women’s Clay Court Championship in Florida after her shoulder injury. She was out of action for about 9 months. Eugenie is active on social media and has updated her fans about her possible return in April. However, April has come to an end and there are still no signs of return.
