Halep has now earned $38,842,886, which beats Sharapova’s $38,777,962. Ahead of her are the William sisters with no. 2 spot going to Venus Williams and the no. 1 to tennis legend Serena Williams.

Simona Halep is currently placed third on her career earnings. As mentioned the ones on the top are the Wllliam sisters. Coming up at no. 2 is Venus Williams who has a career high prize earnings of $42,280,540. Now this is certainly an amount that seems like she will earn only if she continues playing more matches and winning more. But coming up at no. 1 is none other than Serena Williams with an all time career high prize earnings of a whooping $94,518,971.

While the Madrid Open did seem to start off in a good way, with the Romanian reaching the quarter finals, it looks like the Tunisian player Ons Jabeur was too good for the former world no. 1. The Romanian was beat in straight sets with the score being 6-3, 6-2.

Looks like the Romanian will have to play in a much more consistent manner if she wants to win a title or perhaps even another Grand Slam. After all the more the Romanian plays, the more in form she gets and the more career prize earnings she can get to take the place of no. 2. We are rooting for Halep as she earns more and achieves more to break records.
