Australian tennis player John Millman has criticized the WTA and other players for not defending Simona Halep. The Australian resorted to Twitter (now called X) to establish his discontent over the other players for not defending her in her doping allegations. He also suggested that the fellow players should “condemn” the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s process.

Millman put forth that, guilty or not, the process should not drag out this long. He also blames the ITIA for “mucking around” and establishes that they should be quicker in their processes. When Simona Halep failed her doping test at the 2022 US Open, she was banned from playing on the tour pending an investigation. The Romanian was tested positive for the banned substance Roxadustat. Since her suspension, the results of her investigation have kept dragging on.

“Simona is in tennis purgatory due to constant delays in proceedings from the ITIA,” said Millman in his tweet. He said all players, either in the right or wrong, deserve a quick decision from the ITIA. In not doing so, he claimed that they left the players in “purgatory”.

He also slammed her fellow players for not having her back. “Allowing her a proper and fair hearing. If you walked in her shoes you’d at least want that. Regardless of the findings,” he admitted.

The former World No.1 was ranked 55 before her doping allegation. However, following almost a year of not being on the tour, all the points she won got dropped, leaving her currently at 1138 in the World. The two-time Grand Slam champion has been quite vocal about her disproval of the ITIA’s method of investigation.

The Romanian expressed her devastation following yet another negative news about her doping charges. The results of the investigation, which she was supposed to receive at the end of the week has been delayed yet again.

This is not the first time Simona Halep has expressed her discontentment. Ever since her doping allegations, it has always been a back-and-forth battle between her and the ITIA. She claimed that the ITIA was constantly delaying the date for the announcement of the results.

The 2-time Grand Slam champion was ranked 55 in the World prior to the doping allegations. After the 2022 US Open, when she was tested positive for illegal substances, she was suspended from professional tennis.
