American tennis player Sloane Stephens posted a heartfelt message for Madison Keys on her Twitter handle. The 2017 US Open winner praised Keys for her straightforwardness and her ability to speak in the face of injustice.
I am so thankful to have a friend on tour like Madison Keys. Madi keeps it 100 at all times and is always the person to speak up or ask questions when something seems unjust.The 30-year-old said.
Besides, Sloane Stephens also penned down how the two players have always been by each other’s sides. Even when they are in court facing off against each other, they are very supportive, and their friendship has remained constant no matter what.
That’s not all; as per the tennis professional herself, their friendship shows how young girls and women in sports do not have to claw their way to the top and actually have a good relationship with their on-court rivals.

Sloane Stephens and Madison Key’s rivalry over the years
Both Stephens and Madison Keys have met each other seven times across all competitions. Stephens has a feisty five wins among them, while Keys has two.
The most historical tussle between the two American women came during the US Open final in 2017, when Stephens beat Keys to win her first-ever Grand Slam in her career. The 2017 Grand Slam winner also beat Keys at the French Open in 2018.
In the 2024 season, Stephens was eliminated in the third round of the Australian Open after being beaten by Anna Kalinskaya. On the other hand, Keys didn’t participate in the first Grand Slam of the season after advice from her medical staff.
