“So happy for the sport” Kim Clijsters is thrilled as Carlos Alcaraz takes forward Rafael Nadal’s Spanish legacy

Carlos Alcaraz has been killing it! He has become a very formidable opponent to any active tennis player. He has won four of his five singles title this year, including two ATP Masters 1000, the first one being the Miami Open and the recently concluded Mutua Madrid Open. Alcaraz also became a top 10 player after defeating his fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta in the final of the Barcelona Open.

Alcaraz has continued from where he left off in Barcelona and absolutely demolished everyone in Madrid, including Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, one after the other. He became the first teenager to defeat Rafa on clay and the first tennis player in history to beat both Rafa and Djokovic in the same clay-court tournament in consecutive rounds. He put a cherry on the top of these breakthroughs in Madrid by winning the title against Alexander Zverev. He has received praise from both the active and retired legends of the sport. Kim Clijsters is also appreciative of the massive talent that Carlos Alcaraz is.

Kim Clijsters is the former world number 1 and a retired icon of women’s tennis. She has seen quite some players in her long tennis career, and she is excited about Carlos Alcaraz and what he brings to the court. She says that she is transported to 2004-05 when Rafael Nadal was the bright young talent around and Alcaraz is walking the Nadal’s way.

She is enraptured as Alcaraz is ready to take forward the Spanish legacy and become a true heir to Rafael Nadal’s throne. Alcaraz’s coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, who was the former world number 1, has provided great support and guidance and has shaped Alcaraz into becoming the force he is today. Alcaraz has already proven that he is not only the future but also the present after his stunning victories against two of the best players to have ever picked up the racquet in the same tournament. Alcaraz has become an all-court player with impressive shot-making skills, a never say die attitude, and a confident mindset.
