After Daniil Medvedev retired following a second-set tiebreaker loss against Novak Djokovic in the Astana ATP 500 semifinals, fans on Twitter were quick to cast their doubtful reactions, with many unsure if the Russian actually had a physical limitation leading to the pullout.

Although Djokovic himself was very impressed with Medvedev’s play during the match and said he was in fact the better player, Medvedev wasn’t feeling right and thought he pulled the adductor muscle in his thigh.

Regardless, it was such a great match for the time it ran that many on the micro-blogging website were left asking for more. Read the excited Twitter reactions below:

Medvedev was quite consistent with his performances on the Tour but couldn’t win any tournaments after reaching the finals. He managed to win the title at Los Cabos Open but still followed an early exit at the tournaments that led up to the US Open. Following such disappointments throughout the year, he could manage to hold his place in the top spot for only 16 weeks as he lost his position after his exit at the Flushing Meadows.

Fans extended support for the Russian player and slammed the Paris Masters authorities for discriminating against Medvedev because of his nationality rather choose to keep the Serbian who has been facing recuperations due to his unvaccinated stance. Some even acknowledged the fact that Medvedev might not be playing at the Paris Masters but he shouldn’t be kept off for his credibility while even some other players haven’t even played the tournament.
