Sorana Cristea in a long tweet supported fellow Romanian tennis player and 2019 Wimbledon champion Simona Halep. Simona Halep is right now fighting accusations against her. She is accused of taking unpermitted substances.

The doping agency WADA and International Tennis Federation (ITF) is looking into this matter. The WTA has temporarily test-banned Halep owing to a positive drug, for now, to contest in any of the WTA tournaments. She last participated in the US Open which was held in August-September of this year.

However, Sorana Cristea came to the defense of Simona Halep. Despite not being the closest of friends, she used Twitter to support Halep’s honesty, saying that she knew the former World No.1 well enough to know that she would not use any illegal substances.

The 2018 French Open champion is a “great player,” according to the Romanian player, who claimed victory “through her own merits.”

When they were both selected to the team in 2014, 2017, and 2018, Simona Halep and Sorana Cirstea played on the court for their nation Romania in the Billie Jean King Cup for a total of three years.

At the US Open, Simona Halep tested positive for the blood-boosting drug Roxadustat, according to the International Tennis Integrity Agency. The whole tennis community was shocked when they heard the news. All the tennis fans and tennis players gave different reactions to this news.

However, Simona Halep denied any wrongdoing and promised to fight on. “Today begins the hardest match of my life: a fight for the truth,” she said in a social media post.

Simona Halep has had a tough season this year. She lost in the fourth round at the hands of Alize Cornet. She then lost to Jelena Ostapenko and Iga Swiatek in the semi-final match of the Dubai Tennis Championships and Indian Wells Masters tournaments respectively.

She then lost in the second round to Qinwen Zheng in the French Open. She then participated and stormed into the semi-final of the Wimbledon beating some big names such as Amanda Anisimova and Paula Badosa in the previous rounds. However, she lost the semi-final match against Elena Rybakina.

She then gained some form beating Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff in the previous rounds on her way to the final of the Canadian Open. However, she lost the final against the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia. However, she could not keep her form and crashed out of the US Open in the first round itself. For some time, she is recovering after nasal surgery.
