World No. 12 and Russian No. 1 Daria Kasatkina came out as gay earlier this week through a Youtube video during her interview with Russian vlogger Vitya Kravchenko. Daria also denounced Russia during the interview for its laws against the LGBT community and urged the video’s viewers and kids to leave the nation if they get the opportunity.

Daria put on a brave face and also criticised her country for the unnecessary war in Ukraine that has been waging for nearly 5 months and has destroyed the European nation completely with massive damage to the infrastructure while many civilians have lost their lives and livelihood due to the forced migration while others have joined their country’s army to protect the borders.

With Daria coming out and revealing her true self which she had hidden for so long, fans around the world have congratulated her for finally being free and sent their good wishes for her. The same cannot be said about people from Russia with many politicians condoning Daria for her statements and calling her a traitor.

“Daria is a pretty and interesting girl, but it’s her own business to post such things. What man would look at her now? Now that it’s all public, I doubt any man would want to be with her. This is my opinion,” said former Russian athlete Alexander Tikhonov, a 4-time Biathlon Olympic Gold medallist. The statement did not go well with the Netizens who took to trolling the former Olympian.
