While Stan Wawrinka impressed the fans on social media with his crowd-conducting ability, the Swiss impressed the crowd at the US Open with his gameplay. The 38-year-old defeated his 24-year-old Argentine opponent in a five-set match that lasted for three hours and 39 minutes.

The game started with Wawrinka winning the opening set in a tiebreaker (8-6). Tomas Martin Etcheverry then staged a comeback in the second set, winning it 9-7. It had been over two hours by then but none of the players had given up yet. However, the fatigue was reflected in the third set when Wawrinka won it 6-3. The 38-year-old further impressed the fans as he took the decider 6-2.

Stan Wawrinka will now face sixth seed Jannik Sinner in his third-round match. It is expected to be a tough game for the Swiss ace as Sinner has been in phenomenal touch so far. The 22-year-old Italian has won both of his matches in three sets. Now, it is to be seen if Wawrinka can get past the Italian ace and get closer to his second US Open title.
