Carlos Alcaraz, the world number four has been riding high with his performances this season with his six appearances in the finals of the ATP events of the year. Out of six appearances he has managed to win four titles of the year- the Miami Open, the Madrid Open, the Rio Open, and also the Barcelona Open equalling the record with his compatriot Rafael Nadal who had also won four ATP titles in a year. He is still in search of his fifth ATP title as he lost to Lorenzo Musetti at the Hamburg Open followed by his loss to Jannik Sinner at the Umag Open.

The Spaniard was looking strong with his incredible performances but soon had some bad performances which included his second-round exit at the Canadian Open and failing to win over Cameron Norrie in the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open even though he had defeated Norrie a number of times prior to his quarter-final encounter.

Nick Kyrgios ,the 2022 Citi Open winner , revealed his favorite player who might go on to win the title of the 2022 US Open. On his social media account on Instagram, the Aussie shared a post by Eurosport which had asked viewers to pick their winner and the 2022 Wimbledon finalist revealed his favorite pick, and it was none other than the World number 4 young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz out of the options which had big names like Novak Djokovic, the defending champion Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal to name a few. With his good performances all around the year with a fair share of hits and few misses, Alcaraz will be one of the favorites going into the tournament.

It cannot also be denied the fact that Kyrgios will also be one of the favorites at this year’s US Open carrying his great form this summer with his ability to play unique shots. But it was quite a surprising action from the Australian when he did not pick his name to become the winner and rather picked Alcaraz’s name. It would be interesting to see how both the players go about with their individual performances at Flushing Meadows this year and if they get a chance to play against each other.

On the other hand, Rafael Nadal will be aiming for his fifth title of the year and 23rd singles Grand Slam title whereas chances of participation at the US Open for last year’s finalist Novak Djokovic are still uncertain. Daniil Medvedev, the World number one will be looking to defend his title coming from his title win at Los Cabos whereas Alexander Zverev is set to miss the US Open due to his injury which needs time to be recovered completely.
