World No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas qualified for his fifth consecutive ATP Finals following his win against Alexander Zverev at the Paris Masters yesterday. In spite of an extremely disheartening season, the seventh seed has managed to do it once again. This win also qualified him for the quarter-final of the event, where he will be facing Russian Karen Khachanov.
Tsitsipas has had quite a disappointing season this year. Barring a single title-winning run at the Los Cabos Open, he has not had much success. However, his final appearance at the 2023 Australian Open was a major contributor to his ATP Final qualification. His most notable achievements this year are the semi-final appearance at the Italian Open and a final appearance at the Barcelona Open.
Nevertheless, his win in the fourth-round match against Zverev solidified his spot at the ATP Finals. The German himself was fighting for a qualification this year. However, his loss to Tsitsipas will lengthen his qualification journey. Following his upsetting season this year, this qualification will certainly give him something to celebrate.
It’s awesome. What a great relief to finally get that spot. I’ve been working extremely hard the whole year to be in Turin, and it’s a moment of relief that I’ve made it to one of my favorite events of the year.Tsitsipas via ATP
While the Greek seemed to have a disappointing season, he proved that he had enough points to qualify for the season-ender. The Greek has already won the title once in 2019 when he defeated Dominic Thiem in the final. He will hope for a repeat of that performance this year.

Stefanos Tsitsipas advances to the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters
Greece’s Tsitsipas advanced to the quarter-final of the Paris Masters following his win against Alexander Zverev. His highest finish at the tournament was a semi-final appearance last year. His next match will determine whether he can accomplish this once again.
The Greek will be facing Karen Khachanov in the quarter-final. It will be a rematch of their Miami Open encounter, where it was the Russian who was victorious. Post his win over Zverev, Tsitsipas further remarked:
I’m thrilled to be playing good tennis. I’m humbled in victory now and I really want to keep going strong and show some of my potential out there on the Bercy court.
Nevertheless, both players hope to play the best game possible if they wish to win against the other. The match will surely be a thriller where the scales can tip to any side.
