Spanish Paula Badosa and Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas have been in the spotlight for a while now since they made their relationship public. The fans have had mixed reactions to the pair since they announced the news, with a few of them even commenting on how she downgraded from her model ex-boyfriend. 

The new pair have been enjoying each other’s company. Now Stefanos’ dad, who is also his coach, is under fire and receiving comments from the fans after he was seen kissing and hugging Paula after Stefanos’ win against Dominic Thiem.

Stefanos had a long and tough five-setter against Thiem in the first round at Wimbledon. After a gruesome match, the Greek came out shining with scores of 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), and 7-6(10-8). Paula was in the player’s box alongside his father, after winning her match against Alison Riske

Fans call the kiss inappropriate and forced

Wimbledon posted the video of the winning match point on their Instagram handle, eliciting a plethora of reactions online. As expected, fans were quick to notice how comfortable Apostolos was with Paula. He grabbed her and kissed her on the cheek while hugging her. An Instagram user even commented ‘’that hug/kiss from Stefano’s dad to Paula looked wrong…’’

At the time of writing, neither Paula nor Stefanos have commented about this or replied to any of the comments on the post. Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

Although Paula herself did not look very uncomfortable, fans said they thought it was extremely inappropriate to kiss her that way. Another user commented ‘’did anyone else think Tsitsipas father kissing Badola like that was inappropriate?’”

The post instantly went viral with the majority of comments highlighting the alleged ‘forced’ kiss. Although the majority of viewers felt that it was highly inappropriate, a few of them even defended it by saying that’s how it is in Europe and that’s how they show their affection.

Others even called out Wimbledon for posting such clips on their handle. Furthermore, viewers even called out Wimbledon for giving Stefanos and Paul too much attention for nothing, and that they haven’t even been dating for too long.

Stefanos is set to play his second round against the British Andy Murray at Wimbledon. Notably, Andy is the crowd favorite, and this is his home tournament.
