The Greek World No.4 Stefanos Tsitsipas has opened up on his professional and personal goals as he won the first title of the year in Los Cabos beating Alex de Minaur in the final. It was also the 10th win of the Greek star against the Australian in that many matches. De Minaur’s 0-10 head-to-head against Tsitsipas is one of the very few matchups in the history of the game where a player has lost 10 consecutive matches without winning at least one.
However, more than that record, Tsitsipas’ quote about his girlfriend Paula Badosa, while quoting about his goals, has gone viral already. He said, “My goals are to surpass Paula’s best ranking, which is World No 2. And to get better than I am. The good thing about us is that we get competitive in those things in a healthy way so I hope I get to equal it or even better.“
Tsitsipas and Badosa started dating a few months back and the star couple was the main highlight of the tennis Twitter after the Wimbledon. It almost felt like an off-season without much tennis played before the hard court swing and the couple’s pictures were the main talks of the bird app (now branded as ‘X’) for many days.
Stefanos Tsitsipas started dating Paula Badosa in May 2023
The star couple of tennis- Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa started this May. Since then, the couple has shared a lot of pictures and videos together over social media. They both even own a mutual Instagram account, naming it as “Tsitsidosa” combining the names of both. The tennis fans were in awe of the dating news of the star couple, which was more of a surprise.
Badosa was dating a Cuban model named Bittencourt before. She was also ranked as high as World No.2 last year and was 2000 points away from clinching the World No.1 ranking from Iga Swiatek. Since then, she had a downfall in rankings and form. Nevertheless, she is still in the top 40 rankings. Her current ranking is 33.
Tsitsipas said that healthy rivalry among themselves will eventually motivate them to be better. As the Greek star is aiming to become number 1, the tennis world is looking forward to seeing how the Greek star can maintain his tennis along with his new love life.
