The female side of tennis has always been an underrated aspect of the sport, it always has been under many controversies as the society does not seem to think that the women’s game is of the same standard as the men’s game. That thinking is slowly starting to change but it remains in our society as we see many people comment on the topic negatively.

The American icon has one of the biggest influences in the tennis world right now and she played a huge hand in putting the women’s game on the map.
Serena Williams’ husband supports the women’s game and calls for more attention to it
Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian took to Twitter to stand up for women’s sport. On the social media platform, Ohanian suggested that the women’s sport should not be treated as a charity and that it should get the respect it rightfully deserves as it generates just as much profits as the men’s game if not more.
Ohanian posted on Twitter, “Last year. The men are awesome, too. But stop treating women’s sports as a charity and treat it like the profit or attention-center it is,” he said it after sharing a post by The Hill that stated that the women’s game got more viewership than the men’s game at the US Open last year.
The response came through as he got a lot of criticism after posting a video dedicated his wife, Serena Williams, in the video he says, m recording this for ESPN because they promised me they are going to cover more women’s sports. Congratulations, Serena. You changed the world. This is just the start.”
His wife, Serena Williams got a huge reception during her first round match at the US Open as she defeated Danka Kovinic, Williams will be facing Anett Kontaveit in the second round of the tournament.
