Serena Williams, the former world number one, has hinted at a return to professional tennis. The American superstar revealed that she has second thoughts about her retirement earlier today in an interview. The 41-year-old has the most Grand Slam titles currently in the Open Era among men’s and women’s singles. She announced her retirement last year and shocked her fans and the tennis world.

Earlier today, speaking to CBS Mornings in an interview, she opened up about her career and family. She mentioned that she would want to give more priority to family but balance both. She also talked about her decision to retire last year from professional sports.

She elaborated saying “Because I feel like when you retire, it’s different. You put up your gloves or your club or your racket or whatever that is, or your computer, and then you just relax. And you go and you just basically take life in. And that’s not what I’m doing.”

She further added talking about her and said “I just feel like, for me, retirement is such a big word for someone at my age. And I was just like, ‘Um I don’t think … that really fits me. I never really fit in a box anyway. Never. I just need to be out of that. I just need an arm out of the box, or a leg. Something.”

Serena Williams started in the professional sport in around the 1990s along with her sister, Venus Williams. She dominated women’s tennis ever since her first Grand Slam win. She quickly rose into the limelight and had her mark on the history of the sport. She also gained numerous fans across the globe for her game.

Fans are excited with this latest news that hints at her return to the sport. They certainly missed her action on the courts ever since she announced her retirement. Fans and the tennis world are expecting her to return to the sport to at least some extent. Since her sister, Venus is still playing on the professional level, there is a high chance for Serena to return too. She is, however currently focusing on her venture capital firm Serena Ventures.
