“Such an arrogant individual!” Novak Djokovic bashed on Twitter for ‘shamelessly’ blowing sarcastic kisses at spectators
Novak Djokovic
20-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic made it to his record 32nd grand slam final after beating Cameron Norrie in the semifinals at Wimbledon in four sets 2-6,6-3,6-2,6-4. Djokovic is a three-time defending Wimbledon champion and is looking to win his 21st major title which will bring him within touching distance of Rafael Nadal. He will face Nick Kyrgios in the final on Sunday.
Djokovic has made it to the final of 5 out of the last 6 grand slams that he has played which speaks volumes of his consistency, form, and dominance. He has been the best player in the last few years and is undefeated on grass for almost five years. Against Norrie too, Djokovic displayed his clutch gameplay and came from a set down to win the match.
The British crowd was obviously rooting for Norrie and was against Djokovic. But a certain spectator was hurling abuses at Djokovic which at times bothered him. But Djokovic kept his calm and in the end crossed the finish line to enter the final. His celebration at the end showed what the win means to him but there was something more to it too.
After winning the match point, Djokovic blew kisses in a specific direction which were directed toward that spectator who was troubling him throughout the match. It was obviously sarcastic and after that reaction, Djokovic was even booed by the centre court crowd.
Later in the press conference, Djokovic joked that those kisses were for someone who was cheering for him.
Tennis Twitter slam Novak Djokovic for his inappropriate reaction
Fans on social media were obviously unhappy with Djokovic’s over-the-board reaction and called him arrogant for not respecting the spectators.
