Carlos Alcaraz has been the best player this season and rightly so, is the World No.1. He won his first ATP 500 title in Rio earlier this year and then won his maiden Masters title in Miami after a good run at Indian Wells. He also won the Rome Masters and had an amazing North American hard court swing where he created history to win his maiden grand slam at Flushing Meadows.

This week in Basel, he defeated Jack Draper to win his first match as the World No.1 and then eased past Botic Van de Zandschulp in the Round of 16 in straight sets 6-4,6-2.

Pablo Carreno Busta started the season with a solid Round of 16 outing at the Australian Open and his next good result directly came at the Barcelona Open where he made it to the final. His poor form continued till Wimbledon after which he reached the semifinal of the Swedish Open. He then won his first title of the year as he won the Canada Masters before another fourth-round outing at the US Open.

At Basel this week, he thrashed Sebastian Baez in the first round before beating Dominic Stricker in the Round of 16 in three sets 7-5,6-7,6-4 to book a date with Alcaraz.

Alcaraz will go into the match as the favorite. He is finally back in form after the US Open and has played some solid tennis to start the week. Indoor hard courts may not be his favorite surface but his game can be very lethal on fast courts. Carreno Busta will have to bring out his best tennis to match Alcaraz.
