Casper Ruud has been one of the best players of the season and started the year by winning the Argentina Open. He then also reached the final of the Miami Masters. In the clay season, he reached the semifinals of the Italian Open, won the Geneva Open, and then reached his maiden major final at Roland Garros. He then won the Swiss Open, reached the semifinal of the Canadian Open, and also reached his second major final at the US Open.

Stan Wawrinka came back on the tour in the clay season but hasn’t performed anywhere near his best. He won his first match on return at the Rome Masters and till Wimbledon, just won 3 matches in total. He didn’t win any match in the North-American swing but bounced back to bring out his best result of the season- a semifinal outing at the Moselle Open. A string of poor form followed with opening round exits at Astana and Antwerp.
