“Tad bored watching your boring a** tennis!” Nick Kyrgios’s comments on Borna Coric resurfaces after the Croat’s win in Cincinnati
Nick Kyrgios and Borna Coric
Borna Coric had a dream run at the Cincinnati Open when he defeated World number four Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his first Masters1000 title after being back on the court from an injury. He defeated the Greek player in straight sets in about almost two hours of play without dropping any set. With the win at Cincinnati, he became the lowest-ranked champion in Masters1000 history. He also won the ATP-250 title in Morocco and the ATP-500 title in Halle.
On his way to the finals, he defeated many in-form top-seed players like Cameron Norrie in the semifinals, Felix Auger Aliassime in the quarter-final round, Roberto Bautista Agut in the Round of 16, and defeating Rafael Nadal in the second round giving the much-needed confidence. In his run at the tournament, he has dropped only one set which happened during his second-round clash against the Spaniard.
“Your personality brings absolutely zero to the sport” Nick Kyrgios on Borna Coric’s behavior
Coric’s win at the Cincinnati Open was totally incredible and has created a lot of stir in the tennis world. Nick Kyrgios, the 2022 Citi Open champion, had commented on the Croatian’s playing style and even called him out as ‘boring‘ in the year 2020. This comment by the Aussie resurfaced after Coric’s triumph at the Cincinnati Masters. Kyrgios had commented that the Croatian’s personality is quite boring which does not add any value to the sport.
Coric was quick to reply to the Australian’s comment questioning his behavior and took a dig at his comment by asking about the level of bore he felt watching him play. The Croatian did not shy away from the fact to state that out of all, it was hilarious of Kyrgios to comment on his behavior who is often questioned about his own on-court behavior and bad tricks to irritate opponents and verbal spats with the officials.
This is not the first time that the Aussie has commented on a player. He has earlier commented on Casper Ruud and Pablo Carreno Busta. His comments created a lot of anger among his fans for such unjustified behavior. Coric and Kyrgios have met for five instances in their careers with the Croatian having an upper hand over the Aussie.
