Tamara Korpatsch and Harmony Tan clear out differences after huge drama after Tan’s last-minute withdrawal
Harmony Tan, Tamara Korpatsch
Harmony Tan faced Serena Williams in the first round of Wimbledon 2022. It was a very tightly contested battle between the two as Tan managed to eke out the win in three sets. It was a grueling match as both players gave it their all and Tan managed to take down one of the greatest players in history in her Wimbledon debut. Tan was also scheduled to play doubles with her partner Tamara Korpatsch the day after her match with Serena.
After all the exhaustion from her first-round match, it would have been difficult for her to recover if she played in the doubles and then again would have to bring her best to face Sara Sorribes Tormo in the second round. So, Tan decided to pull out of the doubles at the eleventh hour, prioritizing her singles match and leaving her partner stranded. This decision by Tan left Tamara furious as she lashed out at Tan on social media, calling out this unprofessional behavior from her doubles partner.
Tamara Korpatsch says that she resolved the issue with Harmony Tan.
Tan received a lot of backlash on social media due to this incident and it was understandable that when Tan approached Tamara for a doubles partnership, it was neither professional nor ethical to shun her at the eleventh hour, due to a change in her scheduling. It was an ugly situation to be in as it would also have spoilt the player’s relationship. But, Today Tamara posted a story on her Instagram, saying she was able to resolve the situation with Tan and it was all okay. She also said that she would delete her previous posts and urged the fans to forgive the Frenchwoman. She wrote:
“Hey Everyone, Me and Harmony have talked and figured out all misunderstandings. She made me clear about her injury now and we already apologized to each other. As a fact I will delete my previous post regarding this situation. And I will ask not to write bad comments to her, don’t want that she get insults! Hope for your understanding!”
