Team World has blazed a new path for themselves as they defeated Team Europe for the first time in 2022 at the Laver Cup. John McEnroe’s team is gearing up to defend their title again twelve months later. The team is anticipating their leader, Taylor Fritz, pushing them to victory.

The American player doesn’t want to get too ahead of himself. He believes that according to the format of the Laver Cup, the matches always come down to a wire. The 25-year-old then proceeded to say that the three-day event has always seen Europe as the favorite. Nonetheless, the matches have always been close.

The World No. 8 doesn’t want to be too overconfident and jinx himself. He does say that they are the favorites to win this year, as Team Europe is missing its main members. However, Fritz feels it is wrong to already think of themselves as winners, as the ball can be in anyone’s court, quite literally.

The team leader was quoted saying, “Maybe we might be the favourites this year with winning last year and we have such a strong team, but we can’t be thinking like that because it’s probably going to come down to the wire either way, so we have to treat it like it’s all the other years.”

The eighth seed’s girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, recently revealed that a mishap led to the couple being ousted from their hotel room.

Fritz’s girlfriend, who is a social media influencer and YouTuber, shares her experiences and behind-the-scenes details of tournaments as she tours with her boyfriend. She was recently in Vancouver to support him in his battle against Team Europe at the Laver Cup.

Morgan Riddle and the American tennis star met on the dating app Raya and instantly hit it off. They have been dating since 2020. Fritz and she usually travel to his tournaments together. The couple found themselves sitting on the carpet of the hotel corridor as their hotel room battery died down unexpectedly.

Riddle shared this hilarious incident on her Instagram on Thursday (September 21). She posted a picture of both of them sitting on the carpet floor with the caption, “Learned this morning that the battery on your hotel door can die.”
