Taylor Fritz laughed at compatriot Frances Tiafoe’s anecdote, where he went to the wrong airport to board his flight to reach the Shanghai Masters. When all the other players were present at the stadium a few days ahead of the tournament, Tiafoe was missing. When asked in an interview with TennisTV.com, Tiafoe revealed that he went to the wrong airport to board his flight to Shanghai, China. This led the American to miss his flight.

When asked “Frances, what actually happened? Because you got here a bit later than expected,” the American let out a cheeky laugh. From his reaction, it was evident that it was going to be one of the funnier reasons why he was late.

“I went to the wrong airport coming here,” he said, seeming embarrassed of his story. “We have two airports in DC, one international and one DCA,” he said, referring to the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and the Dulles International Airport. The American had to report to the Dulles airport. However, Tiafoe revealed that he was quite tired and got the details wrong. Instead of going to the Dulles International Airport, he had reached DCA. “I went to DCA when I was supposed to Dulles and I missed the flight,” he said.

The interviewer revealed that Tiafoe’s friend and compatriot was laughing at him following his incident. When Tiafoe asked the interviewer what his friend said, he was met with “He just thought it was hilarious,” as a response.

When the interviewer asked Taylor Fritz when Frances Tiafoe was getting to Shanghai, the American had a funny response. “Who knows? It depends if he went to the right airport or not,” said Fritz.

When asked if he had heard from his friend, Fritz said, “I’ll give him s**t when he gets here.” The World No.8 revealed that he did not want to make fun of Tiafoe, especially after he missed his flight. However, Fritz was determined to poke fun at his compatriot after he made it to the tournament.

Ultimately, Tiafoe had reached Shanghai after boarding another flight. He will be facing Lorenzo Sonego in the first round of the Masters 1000 event. Fritz on the other hand will be facing Yosuke Watanuki in the first match. While both Americans are seeded, they will hope to play their best games to advance to the following rounds.
