It has been one whole year since tennis legend Roger Federer said goodbye to tennis. The Swiss star retired on September 16 last year in 2022 in an emotionally charged Laver Cup.
The American player Taylor Fritz recently revealed his feelings about the retirement of the former World No. 1 and the significance of the moments he experienced at the Laver Cup. Fritz was part of Team World, where he competed against his role model.
The 20-time Grand Slam winner played his last match with his friend and greatest rival, Rafael Nadal, as his doubles partner. The duo played against Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. They were defeated in three sets: 6-4, 6-7 (2), and 9-11.
Fritz, who was a spectator during the match, says that he vividly remembers the last match the tennis veteran played. The World No. 8 said that he clearly recalls the emotions he felt while watching the match from the benches.
He said, “Yeah, like, being there for Roger’s retirement, getting to talk to him, shake his hand, all that when he’s retiring, that’s something that I’ll never forget.” (H/T: welovetennis)

Taylor Fritz talks about the next Laver Cup
Taylor Fritz will be seen participating in the Laver Cup again this year. The tournament will be held from September 22 to 24 in Vancouver. The American native praised the event, saying that it is great to celebrate victories with the whole team.

The 25-year-old said that since tennis is a largely individual sport, he rarely gets the opportunity to play and celebrate with other players. He expressed that when you win in tennis, there is only one person who wins and only one person who loses. Therefore, when you win, you don’t have anyone by your side. It becomes difficult to revel in the victory since it is such an individual sport.
He said,“Aside from that, obviously winning the whole event, being able to celebrate with the team. I think that’s something that was so great because I was talking about it the other day actually.”
