It was only a matter of centimeters: Fritz on winning against Nadal

Rafael Nadal vs Taylor Fritz

Taylor said that the margins are small when both players who rely on serve are playing against each other. He further added that he is getting used to moving better and on clay, his best weapon is the forehand as he gets more time on it.

“[Today] was pretty similar to my last match, honestly. The margins were really small when two players who rely a lot on serve are playing. It was only a matter of centimeters,” Taylor Fritz said during an interview with the Tennis Channel during the Monte Carlo Masters. “I am trying to get used to moving better. For me, on clay, my forehand is my weapon. I get more time on it, so I need to get it going,” he added.

Fritz was playing the finals with an ankle injury. Even with this injury he somehow managed to play the best match of his career. On the other hand, Nadal was suffering from a rib injury and is still working on recovering from that.

However, Rafa’s doctor Dr. Angel Ruiz Cotorro said he is going to be in action sooner than expected. The priority of the doctor is to ensure that the Spanish is pain-free. Nadal injured himself in the semi-finals but still played the finals against Fritz.
